PDC provides electrical contracting and automation for water and wastewater engineering projects throughout Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. We work with municipalities, sanitary districts, and industrial operators on treatment plant upgrades, lift station construction, and control system modernization.

BY THE NUMBERS
Water and wastewater facilities combine continuous public-service obligations with corrosive environments, classified hazardous locations, and strict permit compliance requirements.
Energy Reduction
~30%
savings through VFD upgrades
Emergency Event Reduction
~30%
with remote monitoring and SCADA systems
Unplanned Downtime Reduction
~30%
through predictive maintenance and system redundancy
For municipalities planning treatment plant upgrades or new lift station construction, the electrical and controls scope needs to be defined early. These facilities require Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)-compliant lockout/tagout procedures, confined space protocols, and arc flash hazard assessments as part of any electrical service work. PDC understands the compliance pressures these facilities operate under and designs electrical and automation systems accordingly.

Hazardous location wiring per NEC and NFPA 820
Treatment processes cannot be taken offline without advance planning and operator coordination. Lift stations often require temporary bypass pumping while electrical work is performed. The work involves confined spaces, classified locations, and corrosive environments that demand preparation beyond what a standard commercial project requires. PDC functions as a single point of coordination across electrical, automation, and controls scopes. Rather than hand off between a general contractor, a controls integrator, and a panel shop, municipal operators and industrial clients work with one contractor who manages the full scope.

Our Commitment
PDC has been the electrical and automation partner for municipal and industrial water infrastructure in our region for decades.
Treatment plants and lift stations are not set-and-forget installations. Our team of experts service VFDs that require parameter verification after power events, SCADA communication links that need attention when network equipment is updated, and aging control panels in corrosive environments that need periodic assessment.
Municipalities face tightening WPDES phosphorus limits and aging infrastructure that will require additional treatment capacity over time. PDC designs electrical infrastructure with future expansion in mind, specifying panel capacity, conduit routing, and automation architecture that can accommodate additional process equipment without a full electrical redesign.
Wet wells, chemical rooms, and outdoor lift station enclosures are not environments where standard commercial-grade work holds up. PDC selects conduit types, enclosure ratings, and protective finishes appropriate for continuous moisture and chemical exposure. Our hazardous location work follows NEC Article 500 and NFPA 820 classifications.
A water or wastewater project often involves electrical installation, PLC programming, panel fabrication, and motor work on the same piece of equipment. PDC handles all four in-house. Our UL 508A-certified panel shop builds the control panels. Our EASA-accredited motor repair shop handles pump and blower motors. Our automation team programs the control logic.
PROJECT EXPERIENCE
PDC has completed electrical and automation work at municipal treatment facilities, sanitary district lift stations, and industrial wastewater systems throughout our service area.
